Import points from file

 


This command allows you to create points in the group from a coordinate file in text format or Leica (*.gsi) format.

 

 

Import of a coordinate file in the text format

 

File format

  • File : enter the name of the file to process, or select it by clicking . Click to view the file content (if it exists) in the Notepad.
  • File type : indicate the file type : Text file with separator, or Leica File (GSI8 and GSI16).
  • Renumber : check this option to renumber the points of the file. In this case, indicate the start number, as well as the incrementation value. Click to display the last number of the group + 1 in the "Start at :" edit box.

Additional parameters for text files :

FlashPoints can process coordinate text files having the following format :

Point Number (optional) , X coordinate, Y coordinate, Elevation (optional) , Description (optional). Data fields can be in any order, and the field separator can be a Space, a Comma or a Semicolon. What you have to do is to indicate the fields position in the file.

In the example above, the point Number is in column 1, the X in column 2, the Y in column 3 and Z in column 4, the Description is ignored (not imported).

Remark : in the case where the point Number is missing in the file, the points will be automatically renumbered, starting at the number displayed in the "Start at : " edit-box of the "Renumber" option.

 

Parameters

  • Model : choose the point creation model in the list or click to display the point creation model configuration window.
  • Scale : choose the scale to apply to the point creation model.
  • Prefix : enter the prefix to be added to the name of the layers used to create the points and attributes. You can leave this value blank (in this case layers have no prefix) or enter the special value {GROUP} which indicates that the layer names will be prefixed by the name of the group in which the points will be created. Click to restore the default value, which is: {GROUP}_
